 The Magna Carta contains the basic principles of our Constitution. The evidence shows that the `Great Charter' has survived the centuries as a vital legal and political statement despite differences in historical interpretation. This collection presents contemporary views and seventeenth-century arguments, as well as modern attitudes toward the Charter.
