The aim of this book is to present a deep understanding of the combustion phenomena of a single coal particle and of pulverized coal particles in flames and in fluidized beds. The knowledge regarding the combustion mechanism is reviewed as well as the implications on the combustion equipment design and the environment. Presented data and mathematical models were examined over a period of twenty years by a large research group, and verified through designing procedures and university lecturers in fuel engineering. The text provides sufficient detail to enable the design of combustion equipment.

$I"Provides detailed descriptions of the properties and methods of coal combustion.  Extensively illustrated.  Suitable for public, college, and research libraries." -- The New York Public Library$I, July/August 1994 $I"...useful as a study base for a well-versed technical person approaching the field for the first time...because of its compact, modern coverage, this book should be a very welcome tool." -- Choice$I, February 1995 $I"...the book fills a very real gap and provides an excellent primer for a newcomer to the subject."$I -- A.
