edition of the classic work by Edgar R. Waite was issued by special arrangement with the Second World Congress of Herpetology and the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles. Waite's book remains the only complete treatment of the herpetofauna of any Australian state. It was a significant and extremely ambitious publication of international quality that was produced for a limited, local readership; it is a valuable reference book even today.
